What Will the Bond Pay For?

  • Replacement of the 17-year-old linear accelerator (LINAC) used for precision radiation treatment for patients with cancer at the Lou and Jack Finney Cancer Center at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville. 

  • Adding staffed inpatient beds to provide post-surgical and medical care for patients needing to be hospitalized at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
  • Upgrading and expanding the cardiovascular and operating room services at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville for patients needing diagnostic heart testing and evaluations and/or interventional heart procedures, such as stents, angioplasty, or pacemaker implants.

  • Improvements to the emergency department at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.
The May 3 municipal election ballot will include a referendum for a $29.3 million bond for facility improvements at Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville.

Hunt County voters will be asked to vote “FOR” or “AGAINST” the measure.

If approved, the bond will pay for essential expansions of inpatient, cardiovascular, and emergency care capacity at the hospital in Greenville and the replacement of patient care equipment in the cancer center in Greenville.

No tax rate increase is requested.

The impact to our entire community of an approved bond and the projects it will finance is increased access to and availability of state-of-the-art medical care in Hunt County.

Significant growth in the population of Hunt County has increased demand for these medical services.  Hunt County is among the fastest-growing counties in the state. Our population has grown by 25 percent since 2010, and by 2030, nearly 30,000 more residents will call Hunt County home. Expansions to Hunt Regional Medical Center in Greenville are requested to meet current and future need for medical care.
