Pelvic Floor Therapy

About

Pelvic floor dysfunction is a common issue among people of all ages. Problems can include prolapse, urinary incontinence, painful sex or pain in the vaginal area, and other problems.

Our outpatient pelvic floor therapy program helps patients with bladder and bowel problems, pelvic pain, and surgery recovery at Hunt Regional Medical Center Greenville.

Led by an all-female staff, our compassionate, certified therapists offer personalized rehabilitation. Your gynecologist, primary care provider, urologist, or other specialist may recommend therapy to help improve the strength and function of pelvic floor muscles and relieve pain, weakness, or tightness.

Our therapists help patients understand how the pelvic muscles operate. They also perform an optional internal exam to help identify problematic areas and monitor progress.

Therapists may use biofeedback, allowing patients to learn correct techniques via digital imaging on a monitor.

Electric stimulation is an option during pelvic floor therapy. Gentle electric pulse technology can help strengthen the pelvic floor.

To supplement onsite outpatient therapy, additional exercises are prescribed to be performed at home to help patients achieve their goals faster.
